- Hypopituitarism
- SYMPTOMS. Children will show signs of growth retardation. They will have
- normal body proportions but small in size. Adults may show signs of loss of
- weight, poor appetite, intolerance to cold, lack of menstruation, absent or
- sparse underarm or public hair, infertility and easily fatigued.
- CAUSES. Hormone deficiency of the pituitary gland that may result from brain
- growths of various kinds, a brain artery ballooning, shock or hemorrhage
- after childbirth, fungus or tuberculosis infections that reach the pituitary
- TREATMENT. Medication, replacement of lacking hormones. Possible surgery.
